About Us

The Tavern

When you pull into The Root Cellar Tavern, you’ll notice that the restaurant looks a lot like a house. This is because the restaurant began in this house, specifically in the root cellar.

Toward the end of prohibition, the owners opened up their root cellar as a small tavern, serving homemade dishes and drinks. When Prohibition ended and World War II began, the tavern stayed open and grew, expanding from the root cellar into the rest of the house. What you see today is six decades of care, hard work, and community, all the ingredients that make The Root Cellar Tavern a great restaurant.

As we move ahead, we’re taking the traditions of The Root Cellar Tavern and combining them with today’s technology to give our customers the best dining experience possible.
